Seattle’s wage growth over the past year was the fifth highest in the nation, trailing only Houston, Chicago, Miami and Washington, D.C.
According to Seattle-based PayScale, Seattle’s rating in the PayScale Index for the fourth quarter was 1.6 percent higher than a year earlier. Xconomy reports PayScale attributes the growth to the Seattle area’s economic diversity, combining high-tech jobs with constant Boeing Co. (NYSE: BA) manufacturing activity.
