Hot to live in an old fire station? Two for sale in Seattle – Puget Sound Business Journal

Interested in living in an unusual Seattle landmark? The city of Seattle has put two historic firehouses in the West Seattle and Ravenna neighborhoods up for sale.

Since they were listed for sale in late February, the properties have generated strong interest. During recent open houses, 355 prospective buyers and lookie-lous toured Fire Station 37 in West Seattle while 127 people stopped by Ravenna’s Fire Station 38, including one man looking for a place to park his personal fire truck.

“It’s fun. The buildings have a ton of character. People are definitely drawn to them,” said Greg Inglin, a senior vice president at Colliers International    real estate firm. “We average about 10 calls a day between the two fire stations from people seeking information.”

Colliers has a five-year contract with the city to sell its excess properties. Both fire stations have been replaced by more modern firehouses. Funds from the sales will go into the fire levy fund to update other fire stations around the city.

A minimum offer of $250,000 has been set on Firehouse 37. Built in 1925 and renovated in 1986, the 5,360-square-foot Mission Revival Style building is located at 7300 35th Ave. S.W.
