The average worker in the Seattle area in the information sector earns $121,000 per year, which is the second-highest salary in the country, behind only San Jose, Calif.
On Numbers, the research division of American City Business Journals, reports the national average yearly pay for the countrys 2.57 million information sector workers is $78,100.
The information sector is comprised of book publishers, movie producers, broadcasters, cable television systems, internet firms and phone companies.
San Joses $170,300 puts it far ahead of the field, though six other markets surpass $90,000 in average pay for information-sector workers. Seattle $121,000 and San Francisco-Oakland $115,100 are second and third respectively, followed by Washington, New York City, Boston and Manchester, N.H.
